Tennis
If you like tennis, you'll love Heritage Highlands at Dove
Mountain with our high desert environment and a panoramic view
of the Tortolita Mountains.
Our tennis program lets players
of all skill levels enjoy friendly games with neighbors without
worry about finding partners - - we'll set up the matches for
you. Here's what you'll find in our active community.
-
Organized doubles matches for
men three times a week
-
Organized doubles matches for
women twice a week, social tennis once a week
-
Mixed doubles
-
Competition against other
Tucson area clubs
-
Social events that combine
tennis with a lunch or dinner
-
Group or private lessons with
a local teaching pro during the winter months
We have four lighted,
wind-screened Nova Pro courts. These cushioned courts are
a synthetic carpet material filled with sand below the nap which
are easy on the body, and will let you play more tennis without
the normal stress on your joints associated with traditional
hard-court systems. The speed of these courts is comparable to a
medium hard-court surface.

The Heritage Highlands Tennis Association is comprised of
approximately
120 residents. Association dues are only $15 per year. Skill levels range
from new players
just taking up the sport or returning to the game after years
away from
tennis to advanced players of USTA rankings of up to 4.5.
Organized doubles for men is provided throughout the year with
matches on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning. Women
play organized doubles on Monday and Wednesday and social tennis
on Friday mornings. Volunteer tennis coordinators match
both the men and women players of similar playing ability and
assign them to courts at specific times on the designated days.
Signup sheets are posted at the tennis courts. Open tennis is available to anyone in the
afternoons and evenings.

On Sunday
mornings throughout the year and evenings during the summer
months, you will find one or more mixed doubles matches in
progress as well. A signup sheet for mixed doubles allows
players to reserve a court to be assured of playing.
If you’re looking for a more
competitive experience, Heritage Highlands offers opportunities
for men and women to play against other area clubs, including
home-and-home competitions in March. In the fall, Heritage
Highlands fields a team in the Tucson Women’s Interclub league
which plays weekly matches from late September to December.
The Heritage Highlands Tennis
Association also schedules several social events during the year
-- a Fall Fling, a Winter Fling and a Spring Fling, all which
feature a mixed-doubles round robin followed by either a
luncheon or dinner at our clubhouse. In addition, there are
several ladies luncheons throughout the year.
 If
you’re looking to improve your game, a local pro offers lessons
and drills at competitive rates
during the winter months.
With 350 days of sunshine, our Dove
Mountain location in Marana, AZ, is a tennis paradise. We hope
you’ll come to Heritage Highlands to see for yourself and
consider relocating to our friendly, welcoming community.
For tennis spectators:
If you’re one that just can’t get enough tennis and enjoy
watching high-level matches, you can follow the University of
Arizona’s men’s and women’s Division I tennis teams. The U of A
campus is approximately 45 minutes from Heritage Highlands and
all matches are free. The Pac 10 tennis season runs from
February through April and brings to Tucson highly ranked
collegiate teams including USC, UCLA, Stanford and others.
Also, Tucson is home to the Randolph
Tennis Center, which is the Southwest’s largest public tennis
facility and features 25 lighted courts. Randolph hosts several
3.0 to 4.5 USTA National Team Championships in October each year
along with 5.0 to 8.0 USTA Mixed Doubles Championships.
